Birds of a Feather

Seagulls are a very graceful bird in flight, due partly to their gullwing shape. I think they are also interesting when they are not in flight. Seagulls, like people, are all slightly different and definitely have a personality, and they will snatch a sandwich right out of your hand in a blink of an eye. I found lots of interesting gulls on Nantucket, but finding just the right piling was another story. Most wooden pilings have a blue fiberglass top and strips of wood to prevent rope chafing. I found just one piling on Nantucket, that was perfect for this painting, the other I found on Cape Cod.
